COLORING projects — building AR coloring experiences
COLORING projects bring visitors' paper coloring to life in 3D. They are especially popular at children's events and education programs.
You prepare two assets.
- A coloring sheet image (PNG) — the line art visitors color, which also serves as the camera's recognition target. Register it exactly as people see it (never flipped vertically); richer lines and stronger contrast make recognition more stable.
- A 3D model (GLB) — the model paired with the sheet. Author at 1 unit = 1 m, and specify the names of the meshes to be painted on the registration screen.
When a visitor points the camera at their colored sheet, their colors are applied onto the 3D model's surface. No separate mask image is needed.
Operations tip: before the event, test recognition and color transfer with the actual print. Avoid glossy laminated prints, which reflect too much.
